This imposing ensemble is an elegant example of the XIX century naturalist style of ornament. The surprising combination of basketwork and dragon’s feet is characteristic of this style. These jardinieres are used by the Royal Horticultural Society to enhance the border of the canal area at Wisley. For dimensions, see diagram below.

An 8-1 sand/cement bedding mortar should be used to ensure that the weight of the jardiniere and bases is spread evenly, avoiding any pivoting or twisting strain. A Regency Gothic octagonal jardiniere with double-quatrefoil panels. It has alternate acanthus and rose relief bosses. Shown on an Upper Base in four sections and a Lower Base in eight sections (see diagram).
